Low Voltage Lights

Saving energy with low voltage lights, energy efficient lighting.

Don’t you hate it when you are driving home at night after a long day at work and you get pulled over because your tail light is out? It is an annoying problem and one that is not easy for us to notice unless someone is kind enough to tell us. Luckily replacing one of the light bulbs is a quick and easy job.

Visit your local auto parts store and tell them what model your car is and what year it is. They should be able to use this information to know what type of bulb you need without you having to find the information yourself.

While you are there ask them how you are able to access the bulb. On some models it is as easy as unscrewing the cover from the outside of the vehicle. On other models you have to go through the trunk. If there are no screws on the outside of the light than it is safe to assume that you have to work from the inside out.

Unscrew the lens on the outside or remove the plastic cover from inside of the car’s trunk. Now push in and turn the bulb to take it out. Make sure that the car has not been used for a couple of hours so the bulb is not hot.

Use a wire brush or rag and clean off the connection to the bulb. This will remove any corrosion or help to prevent it from developing.

Screw in the new light bulb. Make sure that you line up the tiny raised bumps that are located on the base of the bulb.

Replace the lens or the plastic cover and secure it. Turn the car on and press down on the brakes to make sure that they are working.
